20 is the magic number this August

This August, 20 is the magic number for the Fairway Motor Inn at Merimbula because we are turning 20! It is 20 years since Debbie and Peter Gardiner purchased this special four-star resort-style accommodation which has 20 rooms. While we are on this theme:

  • We are 20 metres from the Pambula-Merimbula golf club
  • 20 metres from the award-winning Wheelers seafood restaurant
  • 20 metres from the ocean!

We are also 20 metres from carwash on the motel’s fourth side, which we don’t mention very often but we probably should as it is very handy for travellers at the end of an adventurous day on the NSW Sapphire Coast!

To celebrate our birthday we are offering:

  • A welcome gift for the first 20 bookings for August
  • 20% discount on ALL bookings of two nights or more during August
  • $20 return voucher for all guests who stay in August, valid for 12 months
  • $20 voucher to spend at some of our favourite cafes, restaurants and retail stores. These vouchers will be in selected rooms – make sure you check under your FOGO caddies when you arrive to see if there’s one in yours!
  • The 20th August booking will receive a special welcome pack by 4 Blue Stones valued at $200
  • And everyone who books an August stay will go into our weekly draw to win a FREE 4 Blue Stones Hamper. will announce the winners on our Facebook page on Fridays as well as contact the winners direct.

Biggest Morning Tea at the Fairway Motor Inn

Each year we host a Biggest Morning Tea at the Fairway, and our afternoon tea this year raised over $561 towards cancer research. I don’t think there is anyone we know who hasn’t been touched by cancer, it really is something we all need to do whatever we can to help raise awareness and when we can, make a donation. The afternoon to us was also about making new friends and bringing people together, and as usual we had a lot of fun!

A VERY BIG thank you to Wendy McDonald from 4 Blue Stones for supporting me with this whole idea as well as the set up for the day, together with Patricia Sly for doing an amazing job of tea and coffee serving as well as Lynn Ashton for a superb job of baking and serving warm scones to all our guests! Congratulations to Bronwyn Burke for being the major prize winner of both 1st and 2nd prize! Amazing! A big thank you to 4 Blue Stones for donating both 1st prize and lucky door prize, and to all who came and supported the day with gifts and donations. We are looking forward to next year!

Local events a major boost for the Sapphire Coast

It’s been such an exciting past month that we don’t know where to start on the exciting news and updates!

We’ll start with our Easter availability - we only have a few rooms left for the Easter weekend and only a few 7 night packages left for our 25% off Easter School Holiday deal which is available for bookings between Friday April 8 and Sunday April 24, 2022. Package details and how to book.

Local events

We love having events back again and there are so many to choose from! This weekend we are booked out with guests who are attending Saturday’s Giiyong Festival at Jigamy to celebrate Aboriginal arts and culture. This family friendly event will be wonderful. When people put on such great events like this so many other businesses in the region benefit.

Speaking of events, we also only have a few rooms left during the weekend of April 23-24 with the Black Sorrows coming to Oaklands for a fundraiser for the Social Justice Advocates of the Sapphire Coast.

Merimbula airport is open!

We’re thrilled to have Merimbula airport open again with daily Rex and Qantas flights, and there are some great deals on offer. Merimbula is so fortunate to have an airport, allowing locals and visitors much more flexibility for work or leisure trip planning.

Past events

In the past month we also enjoyed Merimbula EAT Festival and after a wet week beforehand, we enjoyed glorious weather. This annual event, held on the Victorian Labour Day long weekend and the ACT's Canberra Day long weekend, EAT creates a buzz like no other. With food and drink stalls set up along the beautiful waterfront at Fishpen, we loved seeing so many people enjoying the sunshine and being out and about. It's a credit to organisers and the businesses involved, and from a broader business perspective, many of us benefit from this influx of visitors and we are extremely grateful. We were booked out and loved having our motel full. We can't wait for next year!

Sapphire Coast Weddings & Events also put on a fabulous wedding expo at Oaklands Event Centre which we were pleased to be part of. We host a lot of wedding guests due to the size of our rooms and spacious grounds. If you have a wedding coming up please give Debbie a call as we offer special discounts on group bookings.

Golf group returns

One of the best parts of being at the Fairway Motor Inn for almost 20 years is our returning guests. We were thrilled to host a golf group who have been coming here for 17 years! They’ve only missed one year in that time due to COVID. They stay for several days and end their visit with a barbecue on-site. The weather came in a bit wet, but that never deters keen golfers!

Welcoming guests with disabilities

We attended a workshop about how to improve our access for guests. We have a room specifically set up for people with disabilities, we have many ground floor rooms and all our rooms are large and have plenty of room for things like wheelchairs. We have many measures in place that enable people in wheelchairs, with walking frames or other needs to enjoy a special holiday at the Fairway. Please don’t hesitate to ask when you make a booking if you have special requirements, and we will be able to let you know how we can make your stay as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

Marching through March at the Fairway Motor Inn

February went so quickly and now we are almost in mid-March. It has been such a wet month for Merimbula and Pambula and surrounding areas on the Sapphire Coast, and although some places have experienced flood damage, it has not been to the extent of people further north in NSW and Queensland.

As a region that has been through our fair share of natural disasters, the Bega Valley understands that the rebuilding process will be long and slow. People are incredibly kind and helpful for short-term relief, which is of a huge help. But the best thing you can do is visit their region as soon as businesses are back on their feet and spend money there, stay in their motels, eat in their cafes and restaurants and shop in their shops. Then visit again, and again. This is what has helped the NSW Sapphire Coast communities of Merimbula, Pambula, Tathra, Eden, Bermagui, Cobargo and all areas inbetween get back on its feet, and we sincerely appreciate our guests who return time and again to the Fairway Motor Inn!

Speaking of special guests, we get so excited when we have feedback and would like to thank Jane and Rowan for the email they sent after their stay in our four-star accommodation. You made our day!

"We enjoyed a most comfortable night at your Motel - large, airy and quiet room with great facilities.  And thanks so much to the hosts for your welcoming and warm hospitality.  Now definitely would recommend.”

DEALS

It’s starting to feel like autumn with cooler mornings, and now the sun has come out again the days are glorious. March and April are among our favourite months on the Sapphire Coast - warm ocean temperatures and glorious autumn days! We’ve got a few package deals you can take advantage of, and we encourage you to book early for Easter if you're planning a trip to Merimbula or Pambula as our spacious four-star accommodation is filling fast. Go to our Packages and Deals page for the most current deals, which are available by phone Debbie on 02 6495 6000.

Merimbula EAT Festival

We enjoyed glorious weather for Merimbula's annual EAT Festival, which showcases the amazing food available in our region. Held on the Victorian Labour Day long weekend and the ACT's Canberra Day long weekend, EAT creates a buzz like no other. We can't wait for next year!
