Merimbula, always magical
We just love this piece of paradise we call home, and the Merimbula boardwalk is a great way to get up close to the water and the natural bushland when you are visiting the NSW Sapphire Coast. It is an easy, flat and extremely picturesque stroll from the Merimbula bridge, and when you reach the end you can treat yourself to breakfast and coffee at Sunny's Kiosk which is a delightfully converted boatshed with its own jetty.
As 2023 marches on, and all of a sudden seems to be marching faster, we have released some special packages just for you!

The South Coast Ale Trail starts right here in Pambula
If you are planning a visit to the Fairway Motor Inn and wondering what there is to do, fear not, because the South Coast Ale Trail starts right here in Pambula.
It’s only a 5 minute drive to Longstocking Brewery where you will be able to indulge in your first feast of fresh Broadwater Oysters, Wood Fired Pizzas and of course tasty craft beer. We recommend the Sapphire Coast Ale which is a mid-strength pale ale which goes perfectly with the oysters, but if you prefer something stronger, try their Vienna Lager or Dark Lager which go great with the pizzas. If you don’t like beer, you can also try some local Vodka from Nine Circles Distillery.
Next stop is Camelrock Brewery and bistro which is just north of Bermagui at Wallaga Lake. They serve up American style diner food with classics like Chicken Wings, Burgers, Ribs, Pizzas, Tacos and Subs. You can wash it all down with a nice crisp lager or Pale Ale, or maybe even a margherita.
Just a bit further North and you will be in the Heritage listed town of Tilba. The jewel in the crown is the Dromedary Hotel which is the home of Tilba Brewing Co. The Drom is over 120 years old and has all the charm of yesteryear with a modern Gastro Pub menu from Head Chef Luke Sankey who began his cooking career in London working at various Michelin-starred restaurants. Of course you will want to include some of the beers with your meal and we recommend the Prospectors Amber Ale which is a smooth copper-toned ale with malty caramel and biscuit flavours.
All of these breweries are easy drives from your base here at Pambula, however the Ale Trail stretches for more than 370kms along the South Coast of NSW. So if you want to travel further allow yourself a few more days to soak it all in. As they say, the South Coast is not a destination, it's a journey. Enjoy !
Autumn glory on the Sapphire Coast Merimbula
Three reasons to visit the Sapphire Coast at this time of year are:
1. SUNRISES. It's worth getting up early to find an oceanside seat and welcome the new day, before heading to one of our cafes to enjoy a coffee. Maybe you could then take a walk along the Merimbula boardwalk, or walk from Merimbula Main Beach all the way through to Pambula Beach, stroll around the quiet streets of Fishpen or enjoy the Lake Street walk from Spencer Park to Bar Beach.
2. SUNSETS. If you're not an early riser you can do your day in reverse and end with one of the walks around Merimbula or maybe head over to Pambula for the Panboola wetland walk where you will encounter birds, kangaroos and other wildlife. We love to take in the sunsets from the Merimbula Boardwalk where the colours over Top Lake go from orange to yellow to pink to purple and everywhere inbetween.
3. FOOD! Merimbula and Pambula have a multitude of dining options, with fresh enthusiasm leading to new venues and new food. One of our dinner favourites is Bar Monti in Merimbula which serves fresh pasta, wine and good times. Little Alice Galleria in Merimbula is also a great space to get together 7 days a week from early until late. They also host special events and live entertainment occasionally so are worth following on social media. Banksia Restaurant in Pambula is truly special for fine dining in the ambience of the old Pambula Bank, a heritage listed building and local landmark.
