Today (and most days this summer) we woke up early to a clear stunning sunrise, got on our bikes and crossed the road from the Fairway to the bike path that runs from Pambula Beach to Merimbula. We decided to turn left to Pambula Beach and after an easy 10 minute ride we had arrived. Sparkling water, waves big enough for surfing, paddle boarding and a refreshing swim to start the day. After our swim we rode around the corner to the cafe-restaurant Aqua for coffee and breakfast, and within an hour we were back at the Fairway ready to start our work day.

This is how those of us lucky enough to live here all summer long arrange our lives so we can enjoy the things we love about the Sapphire Coast - the outdoors, beachside coffee spots, bike paths and our pristine sapphire waters. Merimbula always books out fast for the Labour Day March long weekend for Victoria and the ACT, which coincides with Merimbula's ever-popular EAT Festival! The Fairway Motor Inn is in an ideal location for EAT, as you can walk or ride straight into Merimbula via the walking and biking track across the road from our entrance, and avoid all the hassle of trying to find a park on one of the busiest weekends in town! And if you are on foot, you can enjoy some of the local boutique beers, wines and spirits without needing a designated driver.

What is EAT FESTIVAL MERIMBULA?

March is foodie month in Merimbula and we are excited about the EAT MERIMBULA festival which is celebrating its 11th year!

EAT is on Sunday March 10, and it's the long weekend for the ACT and Victoria so we get a lot of visitors. The locals love it too!

The best thing about EAT Festival Merimbula this year is the number of other foodie events that are happening over four days, and we recommend you getting in early with your accommodation bookings because our rooms fill fast.

You can walk or ride your bike from the Fairway Motor Inn into Merimbula to EAT, which saves you having to find a park and allows you to indulge in some of our locally grown and brewed wines, cidars, craft beers and spirits. It's a flat walk on a designated walking/bike path, and is suitable for all levels of fitness! On the bike it takes around 7 minutes.

We just love this piece of paradise we call home, and the Merimbula boardwalk is a great way to get up close to the water and the natural bushland when you are visiting the NSW Sapphire Coast. It is an easy, flat and extremely picturesque stroll from the Merimbula bridge, and when you reach the end you can treat yourself to breakfast and coffee at Sunny's Kiosk which is a delightfully converted boatshed with its own jetty.
